Job Summary

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing programs and projects. Manages status of projects and budgets; schedules and reviews projects updates. Addresses complex project issues and works with the engineers, managers, customers, and suppliers to develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer goals and objectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages multiple projects with the use of direct reports to ensure project results meet requirements regarding quality, reliability, schedule, cost, and technical requirements.
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, suppliers and customers.
  • Communicates with customers to understand their needs, preferences, and perspectives, and ensures that they are fully considered in the course of development of programs.
  • Problem solving with engineers, managers, customers, and suppliers.
  • Leads project planning, resourcing, staffing, progress reporting, people management, and troubleshooting for projects.
  • Establishes project strategy, executes the plan and measures results.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations to senior management around project status, constraints, and critical issues and helps facilitate the adoption of best practices.
  • Monitors work plan and staffing for each phase of projects, and arranges for assignment of personnel where required.
  • Host Customer Focus Team meetings, and update the minutes.
  • Submit tooling RFQs.
  • Coordinate and publish change plans.
  • Establish piece part pricing for projects, publish proposals for new business, and assist in quoting for all new programs.
  • Provide feedback on prints/Cpks/specifications based off of metrology data.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of personnel to ensure project progress on schedule and within the prescribed budget.
  • Have a thorough understanding of tooling, and participate in tooling design reviews.
  • Interviews, hires, and trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; conducts performance appraisals; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies and practices in areas such as safety and all regulatory compliance.
  • Anticipates opportunities for proactive solutions. Manage conflict situations to result in win-win outcomes.
  • Responsible for making decisions regarding the appropriate risk when there is substantial program impact.
  • Support all company safety and quality programs and initiatives.
  • Responsible for the employment cycle, performance and compensation management, and training and development for assigned direct reports.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of experience with at least 5 years managerial/supervisory experience; Or Master’s degree with at least 6 years of experience with at least 3 years managerial/supervisory experience; OR equivalent experience.
  • Must have hands-on injection molding engineering management experience, preferably within an FDA regulated production facility.
  • Demonstrated knowledge & experience with high cavitation, fast cycle molding coupled with automated product packaging equipment.
  • ISO 13485 medical device new program engineering support experience preferred
  • Project leadership experience within a manufacturing, development or research environment.
  • Understanding of the requirements specified by the FDA, OSHA, ISO, QS, and governmental agencies.
  • Proven ability to solve problems.
