My name is Gwen and two years after joining Jabil, I was promoted to the Site Programs Manager. Working in Jabil during this positive steep growth phase, is both exciting and challenging. We incorporate lean activities while introducing new products to site and I have just completed Lean Certification. In Jabil we have created a working environment where people can develop and make a substantial difference. We offer many exciting career opportunities here at Jabil in Waterford.

My career began as an Automation Engineer supporting high-volume manufacturing on assembly lines. As I developed, I expanded into process automation and project engineering, with the opportunity to also contribute to Product Quality — broadening my perspective on how we deliver complex, end-to-end solutions across the site. With the growth of the business and the introduction of new product lines, I transitioned into the NPI space. This allowed me to develop a more holistic view of scaling automation and integrating new technologies into live manufacturing environments, including collaboration across multiple sites. This progression led to my role as Automation Engineering Lead, where I was responsible for the Automation Engineering function across the site.
Today, as Technical Manager, my focus is on building team capability, setting technical direction, and ensuring strong alignment between established operations and new product introduction activities.

I started my journey at Jabil as an apprentice Toolmaker. When I saw the job opportunity pop up, I immediately went for it because I knew it was the right career move for me purely because of my love for working with my hands. The experience I've gained in such a short time is such that people can only dream about. Before I started working in Jabil, I went to college for 3 years studying engineering, then went on to work in a small manufacturing company where I got hands on experience making components for other companies like Jabil. Both of these paths showed me what career and field I really wanted to work in.

I started with Jabil in Waterford site in May 2013, initially in the position of Operations Technical Manager. Within 2 years I moved into the role of Engineering & Facilities Manager, joining the senior leadership team, with responsibility for all things technical at the plant. Finally, in January 2022, I assumed the role of acting Site Lead or Site Ops Director in Jabil, moving into the role full-time in November 2023.
