Job Description


This CMM Operator is responsible for dimensional inspection of various components, sub-assemblies, and finished products manufactured at our facility.  Candidate will utilize Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and will be proficient in using typical mechanical and optical inspection tools along with part drawing interpretation which include GD&T.


  • Support production by ensuring CMM’s are always running efficiently
  • Conduct CMM inspections of miscellaneous surface plate & hard gage inspections
  • Ability to clearly & concisely communicate part discrepancies identified during CMM inspection
  • Ability to interact with Production & Engineering personnel regarding part conformance
  • Create program set-up & execution documents detailing preparation, part orientation, and operating instructions for other inspection personnel
  • Identify and assist in program improvements to increase efficiencies and program accuracy
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic CMM errors using knowledge of GD&T and surface plate inspection
  • SAFETY: Follow all company safety policies & other safety precautions.  Always Promote safety
  • Assist in training other employees in operation of the CMM
  • Ability to maintain a clean and well-organized work area (6S).
  • Diligently perform preventative maintenance activities to minimize CMM downtime
  • Understand and maintain JLE’s Quality Policy in the performance of all duties & responsibilities
  • Ability to handle parts with extreme care to avoid part damage
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all customers
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
  • Must have continuous improvement attitude and show initiative in seeking opportunities to improve CMM inspection process
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of blueprints & geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Thorough understanding of inspection methods
  • Mathematical Skills
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply & divide in all units of measure
    • Comfortable working with decimals and fractions
    • Understanding of Cartesian Coordinate System
    • Ability to perform basic trigonometry (preferred)


  • Previous experience working in aerospace machining environment
  • Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
  • Experience using CMM Manager, PC DMIS, and/or MODUS programming language
  • Solid understanding of CNC machining processes
