Job Description


JOB TITLE:       Engineer II

DUTIES:             Design and develop plastic molded sub-assemblies, components, and packaging as assigned. Develop and implement changes to product design and/or the manufacturing process to achieve efficiency, quality, and/or cost improvements by participating in new product development programs. Develop requirement specifications, system concepts, CAD generated machine layouts, detail drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and budgets. Make layouts of basic and some complex assemblies and details of parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures. Provide customer product design engineering for economic production; may participate in meetings with customers. Assess proper material, tooling, automation, and equipment selection. Work with manufacturing to troubleshoot problems, upgrades, retrofits, set-ups, method development, and the development of process parameters. Participate in product development meetings and may make recommendations to product design changes to enhance manufacturing and assembly. Conduct proof of concept experiments and design other testing requirements as needed. Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), operations, and maintenance manuals. Research new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:   Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or in a closely related or equivalent field, or foreign equivalent. 2 years in mechanical design engineering. Experience to include: 2 years in Creo 5.0 (or newest) and Solidworks 2017, or newest CAD; 2 years in PTC Windchill; 2 years in Plastic Injection Molding and Metal Stamping; 2 years in consumer product assembly process; 2 years in FEA; 2 years in Tolerance Analysis; and, 2 years in assembly fixture design, automation assembly fixture design, and moving mechanism design.

OTHER:              Job site – 6375 San Ignacio Avenue, San Jose, CA 95119; 40 hours/week; Up to 20% travel required.
