Job Description

JOB SUMMARY Quality Engineer SME III will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing and managing; integrated quality solutions that assure improved performance, reliability, and adherence to best practices within the production from different sites across the region. The Quality Engineer SME III will adopt as its goals; profitability, effectiveness, adaptability, responsiveness, quality and the continuous improvement of products and services throughout their life cycles. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · As a regional subject matter expert, the SME III is responsible for monitoring on a regular basis performance related to Quality Engineering metrics from different sites across the region: · Identify early signs of low performance from the sites within the region and initiate recovery activities to prevent any customer complaints. Collaborate with other engineering areas on the root cause of the low performance issues · SME III will have the authority to initiate regional audits to confirm that basic QE systems, tools, and procedures are properly used by local Quality engineering teams · Assist and support regional meetings with other subject matter experts from different areas and possible different regions to align and establish regional priorities · Regional project Leader and coordinator that directs and critically evaluates large scale challenges. · Attend seminars and conferences to have the latest information about new QE systems and technologies to support manufacturing processes. · Lead multiple cross-functional projects across his or her specific region with broad in-depth knowledge of various functions within Quality Engineering to optimize complex large-scale projects · Lead as Subject Matter Expert in all global & regional Quality systems and applications (APQP, MSA, Minitab, eFMEA, eSPC, 8D, RCA, and Problem Solving) · Lead as Site Subject Matter Expert in all QE practices · Support development of global QE systems and applications to be globally required · Communicate to regional team key Quality Engineering metrics for assigned customer(s) and Site · Support & Advise Business Unit Managers and Site Management on new & actual processes reliability and accuracy of process and project assumptions · If required by BUD and Site Management, SME Level III will attend QBR activities and customer visits and on-site meeting discussions. · Supports the development of quality engineering, quality compliance, quality leadership talents with the right skill sets for new product introductions, and product life cycle management. · Coach, mentor, and train new Site QE SME’s as support to Regional and Global QE’s · Coach, mentor, and train engineers within the Quality Engineering team & other functional engineering teams as needed · Sustain and improve the Quality Engineering certification program. · Support the developing and training of potential quality managers via technical training in LFQ program · Seek outside best practices and education to bring knowledge into regional and global QE platforms as part of QE certification and LFQ Program. · Ensure the standardization of Jabil processes throughout the site in accordance with the global, regional and site direction · Develop new Quality engineering best practices with supporting data to Regional and Global Quality teams to optimize existing best practices · Drive the standardization of Manufacturing Process Quality Standards · Communicate, consult, and inform Site QE best practices with supporting data to Regional and Global QE teams · Champions compliance to applicable Global Regulations and standards (e.g. ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, VDA 6.3, ISO 13485). · Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy. · May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES · Typically reports to management or leadership. Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Director, VP · Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management). JOB QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS · Key Requirements: o Understanding and application of broad range of quality engineering tools (e.g., DOE, MSA, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plan, Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis.) o Understanding of Jabil’s global strategies and direction o Understanding of site’s facilities, capabilities and how they tie back to the Jabil strategies and direction o Strong financial and analytical ability: § P&L § Planning § Delivery § Data science techniques (preferred) o Proven record of accomplishment of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and management continuous improvements and cost reduction programs o Strong communication skills o Strong mentoring, coaching and leadership skills are required. o Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety standards & requirements o Knowledge of Quality Systems applied to internal manufacturing processes o Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project required EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS · Bachelor of Science degree required, IE or ME, EE are required · MS in Quality/Industrial Engineering or MBA preferred · Lean Silver Certificate or Six Sigma Black Belt preferred · At least 15 years of working experience with 7 years of experience in Quality Engineering or related field · Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience
