Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The test development team delivers integrated hardware/software solutions to defense & aerospace customers including automated production test platforms and embedded designs.  We develop test solutions to support a wide range of customer/manufacturing requirements.  We are looking for a self-motivated engineer who is capable of designing & fabricating test solutions to support our diverse requirements.  This position typically performs hardware electrical design, software development, and some mechanical design.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Development of test solutions:

  • Reports directly to the project lead or project manager

  • Typically receives project level direction from project leader
  • Typically assigned to design, develop, & troubleshoot test solutions of various complexity
  • Test solutions may contain any or all of the following:
    • Boundary Scan/JTAG
    • Functional Verification Test (FVT)
    • FPGA/Microcontroller Firmware Designs
    • RF
    • Vibration/ESS/HASS
  • Participates in regular design reviews
  • Project tracking (action items, journals, time entry, milestones, & deliverables checklist)
  • Project documentation (drawings, schematics, procedures, and/or specifications)
  • Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Hardware Electrical Design

  • Identify test equipment according to test specifications
  • Design & testing of electronic circuits
  • Knowledge of analog & digital circuits
  • Electrical hardware communication typically includes, but is not limited to GPIB, USB, ethernet, & RS-232
  • Design of custom circuitry in the form of custom circuit boards and/or cables
  • PCB layout of custom circuit boards
  • Learn/Become familiar with writing test specifications

Software Development

  • Design, develop, & troubleshoot test scripts
  • Software coding (C#, .NET, HTML, Labview, TestStand)
  • Learn/Become familiar with third party APIs
  • Development and use of databases

MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Typically reports to Management.  Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Test Development Manager/Technical  Program Manager/Project Engineer.
  • Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management).   

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer including using a Windows based operating system and related software.
  • Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil’s software packages.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical papers, procedures, and other technical documentation.
  • Ability to write technical papers, procedures, or other technical documentation.
  • Ability to effectively manage time on tasks and assignments.
  • Ability to work in a team setting or independently.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree required in an engineering discipline from a college or university related to a technology field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
