JOB DESCRIPTION  

 

Jabil EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) is seeking a Data Governance Lead to grow and expand the Data Governance Program with data quality and data cataloging capabilities for an expanding data platform within Jabil. This role will be responsible for drafting and enforcing processes related to data in partnership with the business teams and the executive leadership. In working with internal stakeholders from business and IT, the Data Governance Lead will play a critical role in developing a program to support the trust and accuracy of a data ingestion process to support the Data Governance initiative. 

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  
 

  • Assess and enhance the Jabil EMS data governance & quality capabilities to make data trustworthy & actionable for the business and to turn information into value. 

  • Ability to use a non-invasive data governance approach to drive the necessary people, processes, and technologies to continue the buildout of the data governance function. 

  • Provide leadership to build out the delivery models, project patterns, and related methodologies, including reusable templates and knowledge base.  

  • A key advisor to the other segments within Jabil to continue the expansion of the data governance capabilities, supporting their operations, and developing business cases. 

  • Operate as data governance and data technology thought leader. 

  • Build trusted client relationships to evolve engagements, deliver client value and grow advisory scope. 

  • Build future state data governance strategy and roadmaps, and propose recommendations for business capabilities, organizational adjustments, and technical components to support data governance. 

  • Implement a data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and data cataloging critical assets within the EMS segment.  

  • Define data governance roles and responsibilities required to operate and sustain the EMS segment data landscape. 

  • Define operating models for data governance in business intelligence and analytics environments. 

  • Build a repeatable data governance program and methodology framework. 

  • Establish a data quality framework necessary to enable data quality reporting, issue identification, remediation, and tracking, ensuring trust and confidence in data across domains. 

  • Demonstrate a rigorous and analytical problem-solving approach, leading information-gathering sessions and preparing and delivering client presentations and work products/prototypes. 

  • Provide thought leadership, frameworks, and best practices required to deliver effective data governance solutions to clients.

  • Ability to work in a technical lead role to coordinate a team of resources to ensure quality and timely delivery of projects.

  • Works with functional managers to establish and maintain technical standards and guidelines for their area.

  • Works with functional manager to review and evaluate new technologies that may be beneficial to current and upcoming project

  • Participate in the technical design review process to ensure high quality technical designs.

  • Plan and oversee the development and support of specific IT areas and systems

  • Plan and direct activities related to introducing new services, products and processes

  • Coordinate technical tasks and work effort

  • Acts as an escalation for technical issues and support.

  • Lead technical teams

  • Identifies and communicates risks to the business.

  • Contributes in defining new business requirements.

  • Performs as a mentor on process and techniques to assure proficiency within the team.

  • Performs research and analysis on new technology and business practices with the team.

  • Align solutions within the overall IT strategy.

  • Assures best practices are defined and followed.

  • Drives consistency across applications and projects wherever possible.

  • Implement project management methodologies to ensure project success

  • Prepare and utilize project plans for significant IT development, enhancement and maintenance efforts

  • Develop and direct activities to increase systems and application availability

  • Act as a liaison for the technical team to the project management team and IT management

  • Communicate regularly with internal and external customers

  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company sec

SKILLS REQUIRED   

  • 6-8 years of data governance implementation experience including a focus on data quality and metadata management. 

  • 5+ years of data management-related experience such as data analysis, enterprise information management, data modeling, or business intelligence. 

  • Bachelor’s degree with IT, business, computer science, or technical focus preferred. 

  • Ability to evangelize and sell the data governance program from executive leadership, business and IT, and the tactical teams to highlight the value of the program. 

  • In-depth knowledge of industry-leading data governance, management, and protection practices. 

  • Previous experience implementing comprehensive enterprise-wide data governance strategies at large organizations. 

  • Knowledge of business and technology issues related to the management of enterprise information assets. 

  • Knowledge of data-related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues. 

  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines with an attention to detail and accuracy. 

  • Knowledge of and experience with enterprise source systems and a strong understanding of enterprise integration. 

  • Knowledge of data governance/quality technology solution categories, leading solution vendors, and key trends. 

  • Analytics experience, e.g., data visualization, data analytics, data mining, business intelligence. 

  • Experience in agile methodologies, tools, standards, and procedures. 

  • Excellent presentation, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with various functional groups within the organization. Ability to explain the value of data governance to both business and technical stakeholders. 

  • Ability to analyze complex environments, distill concepts, and present to clients. 

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment. 

  • Ability to set and meet deadlines as well as provide direction and feedback. 

  • Fluent in Microsoft Office suite (MS Visio, Word and, PowerPoint required). 

  • Experience working in large global organizations with geographically dispersed teams and complex technical environments. 

  • Comfortable working remote and able to lead productive discussions via email, instant messaging, and conference call meetings and with a variety of internal customers. 

  • Ability to collaborate across many levels within a team, organization, with clients and, service providers. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree required.

  • Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems OR equivalent external work experience.

  • Minimum Six (6) to eight (8) years work-related experience required in information technology or a relevant Jabil IT position

  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
