Job Description

SUMMARY Liaison and lead auditor for plant level supplier quality activities. Works in conjunction with Jabil Regional Commodity Manager for assigned commodities. Helps develop and support purchased part approval and qualification activities (PPAP, MPAP or similar). Drives corrective and preventive action activities with suppliers.


• Acts as the liaison between the workcell and supplier for component/production material quality issues. Coordinates and evaluates responses/actions from suppliers and implements permanent quality corrections.

• Interfaces with local and corporate materials teams and corporate supplier quality in supplier development activities. Effectively resolves production-critical supplier issues using corrective actions.

• Supports tracking, maintaining and communicating supplier quality metrics. Drives improvement of unsatisfactory metrics as necessary.

• Conducts or coordinates Supplier Assessments as necessary. Reviews supplier part approval submission documentation (PPAP, MPAP or other) for adequacy and effectiveness, and assists suppliers to develop/improve process outputs to meet Jabil requirements.

• Selects appropriate inspection plans for the supplier quality inspection function in SAP.

• Interfaces with Supplier Quality Technician and Supplier Quality Inspectors.

• Works safely at all times and complies with Environmental Health and Safety standards and work practices along with all other work rules


• Bachelors degree in Engineering OR equivalent education and experience

• Experience must include at least one of the following:

o Fabrication or assembly of electronic components

o Injection molding of molded parts with tight tolerances or Class “A” decorative surfaces

o Stamping of parts with tight tolerances or Class “A” decorative surfaces

o Manufacture of printed circuit boards

• Demonstrated understanding of Advanced Quality Planning (AQP/APQP) processes and practices

• Demonstrated understanding of statistical methods and their application to a manufacturing process, including the ability to conduct designed experiments (DOE) and analyze and interpret data and results

• Demonstrated understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and practices

• Demonstrated ability to use equipment and tools typically used in the inspection process such as CMM, surface plate, micrometers, and calipers, etc

• Demonstrated analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil’s software packages, especially databases, spreadsheets and web usage


• SAP experience

• Knowledge of surface mount technology, SMT assembly processes, methods and equipment, and electronics

• Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ-CQE)

• Certified Quality Auditor (ASQ-CQA or ISO/QS)


Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil’s software packages. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Individual may be required to sit, stand walk  regularly, and occasionally lift up to15 lbs. Be accessible to production floor and office staff and to use required office equipment. Specific vision requirements include reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen frequently.


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Individual’s primary workstation is located in the office area, with some time spent each day on the manufacturing floor.  The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to moderate.
