Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Technician III works with Additive Manufacturing (3-D Printing) Quality, Manufacturing and Quality Engineering to continuously improve quality performance ensuring compliance with quality standards. This role performs a variety of quality control tests/inspections on products, materials, components, and parts at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with quality and reliability standards, and to ensure effective inspection and testing procedures are implemented.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Quality Engineers with follow up on the execution of DA, ECN and CAPA (Corrective Action and Preventive Action)

  • Performs complex analyses and tests of raw materials, packaging materials and/or finished products from manufacturing to ensure quality standards and compliance to customer and regulatory requirements

  • Assures gauges are within the current calibration cycle and are properly used and stored. Arranges for repair of gauges as needed

  • Participates in mold qualification/validation process

  • Review’s production records for conformance to procedures

  • May inspect, measure, and test parts in accordance with blueprints, product plan requirements or engineering sketches

  • May oversee instrument calibration system, performs measurements and related calibration tasks

  • Audits, maintains, and generate accurate quality records, logs, and reports

  • Works with all Quality and Manufacturing personnel to achieve regulatory compliance

  • Troubleshoots recurring defects and quality problems. Recommends disposition, modification, and corrective actions for recurring or non-recurring discrepancies

  • Maintain files for batch history records (BHR). Review BHR’s for completeness and accuracy. Fills out lot history closeout/Batch Release form. Work and follow up as needed with shipping to complete necessary information on Certificates of Compliance/analysis for product shipments

  • Acts as final checkpoint for finished goods prior to being shipped to customer or end user

  • Trains other employees in Quality Control processes and procedures

  • Perform routine and repetitive inspection procedures to ensure quality levels at various stages of production

  • Inspect in-process and/or finished production assemblies and sub-assemblies for conformance to quality assurance standards

  • Read and follow visual aids, engineering change notices, or established operating procedures, determine acceptance or rejection of product. Follow standardized and routine written directions and visual aids for assigned quality assurance inspection operations

  • Visually inspect products using magnifying glass, lot sampling methods, first article checks, and /or AOI machines

  • Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor

  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy

  • Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred

  • 4+ years related experience as Quality Inspector

  • 1 to 3 years Additive Manufacturing related experience as Quality Inspector

  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience

  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

  • GD&T knowledge (Interpretation of QC Dim Requirements)

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Individual may be required to sit, stand, or walk

  • Reaching, and lifting of up to 50 lbs

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • General knowledge of blueprints, engineering specifications interpretation, inspection using measuring and test equipment, SPC software and measurement techniques, geometric dimensioning and tolerance and quality calibration processes required

  • General knowledge of process control charts, process capability studies and other statistical analysis applications

  • Ability to operate a personal computer including using a Windows based operating system and related software

This position requires use of information which is subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). The anticipated hourly pay range for this role is $16.28 - $23.59 - $30.90. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, education (if requirement noted above), geographic location, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
