Job Description

Jabil EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) Ireland, Blanchardstown Dublin 15, are hiring a Line Lead to join our expanding Manufacturing Department on evening shift.

  • This role requires a good working knowledge of all processes of the manufacturing line and will work in a leadership role supporting the Manufacturing Manager.
  • This role requires the ability to lead and motivate a group of production operators to meet the company's goals in terms of quality, schedule, yield, and productivity according to procedure.
  • This role requires responsibility for managing the end-to-end process, reacting to yield and quality issues as they occur and pro-actively addressing potential issues.
  • This role requires responsibility for ensuring the line performance is optimized throughout the shift. This will include safety, Security, quality, yield, throughput, material supply and people etc.

Key Responsibilities and End Results:

  • To supervise lines to ensure all site Safety, Security, Quality, Productivity and Waste management objectives, policies and procedures are met.
  • Manages quality inspection in line with check list and guidelines provided.
  • Supports continuous improvement and lean manufacturing activities as required.
  • Implements and sustain 5S activities and standards.
  • Participates at daily meetings and ensures detailed communication across shifts, priorities, ongoing issues, and any potential request for support.
  • Communicate with team by delivering shift briefs with focus on safety, Security, quality, cost, delivery and supporting Kaizen blitz & 5S ideas for improvement.
  • Leads and motivates a team of people to succeed by utilizing appropriate interpersonal styles including leading by example, setting objectives, defining responsibilities to give a clear sense of direction.
  • Organize production workflow and ensures employees understand their duties/tasks.
  • Highlight performance and training issues as appropriate to maximise performance of all employees while ensuring cross training and flexibility of staff to support these changes in production priorities especially during peak periods.
  • Liaison with engineering and management for scheduling and supervision of disassembly.
  • To assist the Workcell Manager in managing the line whenever necessary or when instructed and to drive operators in achieving satisfactory level of machine utilization and efficiency with minimum downtime.
  • To highlight to Workcell Manager when there is high fallout.
  • Achieve daily standard set by Workcell Manager.
  • Audits material kits, issues material to the line, reports scrap and maintains clean and organized work area.
  • Identifies and develop potential operators in handling the right equipment at the right time and motivate operators for greater throughput, quality, and efficiency.
  • Guides and assist the operators in the skills required to do their jobs.
  • Monitors and update hourly production status.
  • Monitors systems and ensure it is implemented in the production line properly.  Ensure work meets or exceeds all standards.
  • Maintain timekeeping and records on TMS in a timely manner for payroll purposes.
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Lead by example, ensuring safe work practices are always maintained in line with company policies.

Person Specification:

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross functional teams.
  • Strong planning & organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in the English language is a requirement alongside eligibility to work in Ireland.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • A “can do” work ethic with excellent problem-solving skills.

Essential criteria

  • Minimum Leaving Certificate or equivalent is required. May substitute relevant experience in lieu of educational requirements.
  • 2-3 years in a supervisory / people management role is essential.
  • Good understanding of company processes, and procedures is essential.
  • Good PC skills is essential.
  • Proficiency in the English language is a requirement alongside eligibility to work in Ireland.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and third parties.
  • Intermediate Excel skills is required.

Desired criteria

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing is desired.
