Job Description

SUMMARY
NPI Process Technician III’s are responsible for the Test Engineering Process across multiple test platforms, including Koh Young, AOI, Takaya, and X-ray. NPI Process Technician III’s are responsible for the attributes that can affect the test process and should consistently drive issues to improve test coverage and process yields. Responsible for Test Development and recognized as a development expert on at least 2 NPI platforms. Also responsible for maintaining the integrity of the test area. NPI Process Technician III’s must drive NPI machine optimization efforts and provide guidance and assistance to the NPI test team. Must be a demonstrated team leader and self-starter, able to deal with stressful situations; constant interaction with the manufacturing lines is required, with frequent communications with machine vendors and/or customers expected.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

q  Analyze daily process yield reports that will include, but not limited to the following: Test escapes, operator errors, defective product, test equipment/test defects, RMA product defects, and spear corrective actions.
q  Increase production yields by understanding and reducing operator errors and driving manufacturing and test engineering defects back to the appropriate department.
q  Assist SME Test Engineer in developing preventative maintenance program and assure compliance to reduce downtime and increase process yields throughout the process.
q  Analyze downtime sheets recording downtime of a station to set guidelines for preventative maintenance scheduling.
q  Proactively look for ways to reduce Test downtime.
q  Perform walkthroughs, inspections, product evaluation and testing as needed.
q  Conduct NPI test evaluations.
q  Ability to understand and utilize assembly documentation such as but not limited to the following; Schematics, BOM’s, Visuals, Debug, Testing tools and procedures.
q  Proactively prevent test escapes.
q  Assist Business Unit with special customer requests.
q  Ensure product testing completeness and reliability.
q  Update and generate documentation as required.
q  Assist SME Test Engineer with test process review.
q  Evaluates NPI Equipment and determines any needed repairs, coordinates such repairs.
q  Set-up equipment to perform any required programming and verification test following established procedures for the specified operations to be performed.
q  Ensures that all up-rev’s, Deviations, and EC’s are implemented on NPI and production runs.
q  Ensures that new NPI developments are completed in a timely fashion and verified for stability before being released for testing.
q  Ensure quality (work meets or exceeds Jabil Workmanship Standards) and improve efficiency
q  Operates automated electronic test equipment on manufactured circuit board assemblies and subassemblies.
q  Responsible for maintaining a continuous flow of the manufacturing line and meeting production goals while performing the assigned test duties.
q  Advise supervisor of any recurring test or operator failure so that prompt corrective action may be taken.
q  Ensure assemblies are properly handled and marked.
q  Ensure daily logs and move/production tickets are accurately maintained.
q  Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position
q  Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
q  Provide clear direction for NPI operators.
q  Advise on scheduling and staffing needs.
q  Complies with all 5S standards.
q  Provides guidance, training, and leadership to new technicians.
q  Recognized development expert on at least 2 NPI platforms.
q  Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
q  Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.


MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
An Associates of Science in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or Technical Certification preferred; and five plus years experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED LANGUAGE SKILLS
·         Basic PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil’s software packages.
·         Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
·         Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
·         Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REQUIRED MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
·         Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of electronic theory .
·         Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REQUIRED REASONING ABILITY
·         Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
·         Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
·         Ability to interpret and manipulate various types of testing scripts and CAD data.
·         Ability to write test scripts and interpret CAD data.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to walk, and to lift and carry PC’s and test equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and use of computer monitor screens a great deal of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Exposure to dirt, noise or dusty environments are moderate. Individual’s primary workstation is located on the manufacturing floor. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
