Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

As a Principal Engineer you will have developed an expertise in a particular field of engineering or within a particular sector. You will have lead design teams through full product development and into production. As a Principal, you will be expected to demonstrate a level of expertise in a particular area that matches or exceeds the expertise of our customers. You will consult on system architectures, assess technical requirements and competencies needed during quoting and oversee design progressions during product developments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Meet the requirements of Lead Design Engineer in your respective expertise
·         Will represent Jabil Design Engineering in technical customer discussions / meetings.
·         Work with Project Managers in the quoting process.
·         Provide technical input to help identify and solve project risks that may affect overall project plans and schedules.
·         Is expected to support the development and utilization of processes for design.
·         Mentoring of all engineering staff
·         Stay abreast of the latest technology and techniques to provide designs that are competitive and cost effective.
·         Raise perception of Jabil’s acumen in the industry by authoring or presenting papers, articles, etc.
·         Should be associated with applicable industry trade groups/organizations maintaining active membership and participation.
·         Work with Site Directors to define potential R&D project proposals that will help increase areas of competencies needed.
·         Lead the development and implementation of platform and product architectures in collaboration with senior technical staff.
·         Guide and oversee the development of system component requirements, interfaces, and specifications necessary to maintain the consistency and integrity of the architectures.
·         Manage product design and documentation at a system level.
·         Perform independent research and engineering studies.
·         Lead remote development teams.
·         Effectively consult on multiple projects in parallel.
·         Develop IP Patents, Technical Publications or White Papers
·         May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

REQUIREMENTS:

1.Master’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent with at least 5 years related experience in Server/Storage signal integrity design

2.Proficient with component/board level’s reflection, crosstalk, ground bounce, bypassing techniques for power/ground noise reduction, termination techniques for reflection noise control and insertion loss deviation and loss budget for industry specification

3.Proficient with PCB cross-section/stack-up design and trade-off, SERDES channel analysis and impedance calculation etc.

4.Proficient with 2D/3D CAD tools such as Ansys SIwave, HFSS, Cadence PowerDC, PowerSI, Synopsys Hspice and Keysight ADS etc.

5.Good working knowledge in various signal test and measurement instruments like network analyzer, and oscilloscope etc.

6.Familiar with DDR4/5, PCIe Gen4/5, SAS/SATA, USB, and other standard server SerDes interfaces etc. End2End SI simulation and analysis

7.Familiar with server CPU SI simulation flow like Intel ICAT, UPM, AMD Seasim etc.

8.Good English in Read/Write

9.Understand SI design flow and know how to co-work well with other function teams.

PREFERENCE:

1.Experience of working in major server OEM/ODM company, like Quanta, Foxconn, Wistron etc.

2.Ever work with Tier one customer like Google, Meta, Dell, HP etc.

3.Fluent English in speaking/listening.

1.Industry-wide – knows best practices in him/her domain as is common in the industry (OEMs and ODMs)

2.Capability to deep-dive into relevant design specifications for their domain

3.Experience in overall architecture for products and solutions.

4.Ability to do a ROM estimate: high-level cut of NRE and time needed

5.Capable of working with abstract requirements. And assist with hardening those requirements.

Self-Driven

1.Learn new technology

2.Assess alternate paths available for design and architecture. (Don’t do it this way, do in another way)

3.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Capability to deep-dive

4.Engage Technology partners on Proof of Concept and technology trend to gain the leading edge advantage to build world-class solution/product.

5.Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into Technology Roadmap

Leadership

1.Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options with key stakeholders.

2.Ability to Cooperate with the CTO and BU during pre-concept/concept to ensure safe implementation of the new feature.

3.Good leadership skill set that can lead cross-function teams to deliver the best result.

4.Must to have good working spirit and work well in a team and face-paced environment
