Job Description

Job Summary

Develops and implements production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most efficient manner for new and existing assembly/molding processes. Monitors the assembly/molding process; troubleshooting problem processes and assisting in resolving quality issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the startup of new/existing projects/production jobs, optimizing cost, efficiency and quality.

  • Establish and ensure process control and maintains appropriate documentation.

  • Monitor machine management data in order to maximize utilization and minimize machine-generated scrap.

  • Assist with establishing process for new product lines; document product development and changes; evaluate new product performance and monitor new tool design.

  • Debut moderately complex problems within a portion of new systems, tooling and automation.

  • Ensure that process parameters are within acceptable tolerances for products and components.

  • Implement experiments to enhance processes as well as improve yields and utilization through reduced cycle and efficient set-up.

  • Provide input on creative ways to reduce costs by streamlining processes and systems.

  • Implement maintenance changes in process improvements; propose or specify repair alteration of automation while ensuring adequate documentation is maintained.

  • Coordinate line reconfigurations and machine move activities, including equipment arrival, positioning and installation, and scheduling of support groups (Machine Support, Facilities, MIS, etc.) using the approved communication process. 

  • Verify that machine maintenance is performed as scheduled on assigned line(s).

  • Provide guidance, assistance and / or training to the Manufacturing Engineering Technicians. 

  • Encourage open communication and exchange of information within the M.E. department and between the various support groups.

  • Assist in establishing clear, measurable and attainable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment; supporting all company safety programs and initiatives.

  • Apply and support lean manufacturing principles.

  • Supports all company safety and quality programs and initiatives.

  • Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position.

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing or plastics engineering (or and equivalent combination of education, training or experience).

  • 3 plus years related experience.

  • Clean room, machine maintenance, assembly manufacturing, processing parameters and controls experience is preferred.

  • Scientific Injection Molding experience a plus.
