SUMMARY

Reporting to the Sr. Global Quality Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring continuous compliance to AS9100 and NADCAP. Responsibilities include working with site Production, Materials and Engineering teams to manage the development of processes and throughput of manufactured product to ensure product conformance and on-time delivery.

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment, Retention and Employee Development

  • Recruit, interview and hire Quality Engineers, Quality/NDT Inspectors, Calibration Technicians and QMS Auditors
  • Monitor team member performance and turnover; identify and execute key factors that can be improved
  • Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis
  • Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility
  • Coach and mentor Quality staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer
  • Create and manage succession plans for Quality function

Performance Management

  • Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results (i.e. operational metrics, results against project timelines, training documentation, attendance records, knowledge of operational roles and responsibilities, personal development goals)
  • Perform Quality team member evaluations professionally and on time
  • Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of the organizational goals
  • Coordinate activities of Quality teams and keep them focused in times of crises
  • Ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently in area of responsibility

Communication

  • Provide communication forum no less than once a month for the exchange of ideas and information with the Quality department
  • Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style
  • Ask questions; encourage input from staff
  • Assess communication style of individual team members and adapt own communication style accordingly

FUNCTIONAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Strategy and Direction

  • Know and understand the segment strategic directions
  • Define, develop and implement a Quality strategy which contributes to the segment’s strategic directions
  • Develop an understanding of the segment’s business strategy as it pertains to Quality
  • Provide regular updates to GQM, BUM, and Operations Manager on the execution of the strategy
  • Act as customer interface for all Quality related matters

Cost Management and Forecasting

  • Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or re-engineering of processes and systems)
  • Utilize tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value
  • Provide feedback to Operations, GQM, BUMs and Functional Managers (FMs) on cost and trends
  • Prepare timely forecasts for the department.  Compare forward forecast results to historical actual results for trend assessment and analysis

TECHNICAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage gauge selection and metrology, through experience and proven abilities in manual measurement
  • Manage CMM Program development and troubleshooting, through CMM programmers
  • Manage FAIR creation and approvals, through QE team
  • Manage the use of MT&E (Measurement Testing and Equipment), in a high machining production environment
  • Manage product defect reporting and troubleshooting using industry quality tools
  • Manage CAPA (8D) and FMEA initiatives
  • Utilize root cause analysis techniques
  • Propose machine selection and automation solutions
  • Provide input in reviewing customer designs for inspect-ability during NPI phase, to optimize the product for inspection and de-risk the inspection challenges
  • Coordinate with other internal SME’s and thought leaders to solve technical issues
  • Contribute to the development of Inspection Procedures
  • Leverage lessons-learned to improve documentation and training
  • Contribute to shaping a positive, effective, and collaborative team culture
  • Communicate technical aspects of projects effectively to internal and external customers

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferred – BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
  • 5+ years in a supervisory role
  • 5+ years of experience working in a technical capacity for machining environment
  • 5+ years of experience utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
  • Applicable knowledge across multiple technical competencies
  • Strong Leadership and Interpersonal skills
  • Resilience and ability to operate and multitask in fast-pace, high pressure environment
  • Detail oriented, decisive, and a demonstrated ability to use sound judgment when making decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to build and leverage partnerships with internal customers, external customers, and industry professionals
  • Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT

This position requires use of information which is subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). To conform to U.S. Government export regulations/ITAR, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State

The anticipated pay range for this role is $79,143 - $114,577 - $150,117. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
