The Mechanical Design Lead Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development and testing of complex mechanical hardware designs for customer or innovation projects.  Responsible for ensuring that technical milestones are achieved.  Responsible for guiding other team members' mechanical designs and leads technical design reviews.  

Lead and manage cross-organizational effort to design, develop and implement robust designs with proper verification, and design for manufacturability for seamless product introduction. Systematic analysis of complex technical data to understand device function and root cause device failures. This engineer will have demonstrated experience at releasing products into a production environment.


  • Leader in developing and validating complex mechanical products that are required across different product segments 

  • Interfacing with Electrical and ECAD teams for Mechanical-Electrical integration activities 

  • Performing mechanical detailed design activities in different CAD packages (Creo, Solidworks) 

  • Directs all aspects of mechanical design with minimal supervision 

  • Identifies material, process, tooling, automation, and equipment selection. 

  • Mentors/coaches/trains engineers with less experience 

  • Partners with system architects to review and clarify design requirements and define the appropriate mechanical/thermal architecture. 

  • Experience with part creation in different stages of the design cycle (3D printing, Soft and Hard tooling) 

  • Expertly assemble prototypes and verifies form/fit/function.  

  • Perform customer design reviews on “design for assembly” and provide optimization proposals 

  • Work with and manage external component suppliers (in close cooperation with Jabil’s supply chain)/manufacturers and provide input to their product roadmaps 

  • Communicates technical aspects of a project effectively to internal and external customers. 

  • Define design innovations and potential patentable solutions 

  • Leads resolution of complex design issues and manages design trade-offs 


  • Typically reports to Management.  Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Design Manager  or Group Lead 
  • Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management).  


  • Detailed knowledge (with moderate complexity) of Industry or specific sector, regulatory and safety standards. Especially in the field of Automotive, Transportation and Healthcare 

  • Having knowledge in power domain is an asset (busbar technology, product enclosures) e.g. Automotive electrification domain 

  • Material knowledge  

  • Broad knowledge developing high complexity projects that have required one or more of Mechanical Engineering Design specializations or competencies: Tolerance Analysis, DFM, Serviceability, Thermal analysis 

  • Detailed knowledge and use of key development tools and design standards: 3D CAD, Finite Element Analysis, Tolerances, Manufacturing Principles, Interference Checks 

  • Influence others and share best practices 

  • Effectively communicate with good understanding of English. 

  • Work as part of a global team 

  • Assess a project and articulating risk while developing project milestones. 

  • Develop projects in a stage-gate process (PLCQ)  

  • Mentor less experienced engineers. 

  • Leads ME projects with multiple engineers assigned. 

  • Leads cross-functional and ME design reviews 


  • Bachelor’s degree in (Electro)-Mechanical Engineering and 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree and 6 years; or a PhD with 3 years 

  • Main Experience should be in the mechanical design

This role it to be located in Wroclaw, Poland with a possibility of some degree of hybrid working
