The purpose of the position is to give leadership to the Automation & Controls Engineering function within JRI. The position will support 1) World Class Manufacturing Initiative 2) Factory of the Future Initiative & 3) Customer Assembly Automation Projects. The position will report to the Director Global Engineering and work directly with Regional and Jabil Site teams to complete activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
World Class Manufacturing Initiative – Create and facilitate WCM Peer Group for Automation & Controls Engineering to mature approach to Automation & Controls Engineering across JRI Sites. Facilitates creation of Global Standards in support of JRI Sites and FoF Initiative.
Factory Of the Future Initiative – Technical Lead for the Automation & Controls Engineering workstream for the FoF initiative. Including system requirement definition, enabling machine connections across various equipment types, recipe management solutions, deployment and testing in line with site deployments.
Customer Assembly Automation Projects – As required support customer automation projects which are being transferred to JRI Sites. Support technical discussions and give guidance to URS & Control Engineering topics.
Manages projects to meet delivery timeline and quality.
Manages a remote group of project team members to achieve project goals across JRI regions.
Liaise with sites / customers / internal teams on project requirements, specifications, work activities and time line.
Leads the team to review, understand and interpret requirements/specification correctly and transform all of these into designed solutions.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Will report to Director Global Engineering.
This position will not have direct reports but it is planned to have reports as the project load increases. Regional and Jabil Site resource teams will be identified to work on project activities partnering with this position.
Knowledge of two or more Jabil Manufacturing processes – SMT, PCBA, Assembly Automation, High Level Assembly, Injection Molding Operations
Knowledge and deployment experience of MES Enterprise Systems
Knowledge and deployment experience with ISA88 / 95 standards / Euromap / OPC UA / Batch Processes / Controls Standards / Vertical & Horizontal Integration / machine networking principles
Knowledge of Recipe Management in an automated manufacturing environment
Experience with PTC Kepware and/or other industrial connectivity solutions
Demonstrated advanced systematic root cause investigation knowledge for control systems.
Experience with commissioning of new manufacturing equipment and control systems.
Experience supporting cGMP automation equipment, code change control procedures and Computer System Validation requirements.
Provide leadership & advice to Engineers & Technicians in the critical areas around PLC programming, Vision Systems, MES systems installation, networks, set up, configuration, calibrations, troubleshooting and fault finding, including use of analytical tools (Lean & Six Sigma).
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
B.Sc. in Mechanical or Electronics/Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering / Controls Engineering
Minimum 10-15 years of working experience in deploying and supporting automated control systems
Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
Exceptional technical leadership and interpersonal skills.
Motivated, enthusiastic, self-directed & results driven individual.
Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required.
High proficiency in English communication skills required.
Multiple languages a definite advantage.
Regular business hours. Some additional hours may be required.
Travel requirements: Domestic, International, and Global up to 15%.
